Nichola Johnston of Fourth Year died ten days ago from an illness
she had borne with great bravery and good humour since her early youth.
Friends, fellow-pupils and staff will remember Nichola for the rest of
their lives, such was the positive effect she had on everyone who knew
her. Uncomplaining to the end Nichola was typically more concerned about
others than she was about herself. Somehow she rose above personal
adversity, making us at once humble in her presence yet proud to have
known her. Our own lives have been put into clearer perspective by this
dignified and profoundly good young lady. For that we will forever
remember and appreciate Nichola as “a rare wee lass”. Madras
