Alex Soutar was Scottish Boys Match and Strokeplay Champion in 1964, aged 16. By far the best golfer from Madras College in the post war years. The school presented the trophy to commemorate his victory. Since Soutar's time Madras has had at least one boy reach the last 16 each year in the Scottish Matchplay Championship.
