David Doig (1896-1969)

David Doig was born 7 Sept 1896 in St. Andrews, Fife. David was educated at Madras College, St. Andrews, and Panal Ash College, Harrowgate. He served in World War I, and was wounded in the Dardenells as a private in the HLI. Eventually he obtained his commission in the Gordon Highlanders, and was seconded to East Africa with the Kings African Rifles.

David was wounded there, invalided home and demobilized in 1919. He trained as a C.A. (CPA) in Glasgow and had a distinguished career in Ceylon from 1921 to 1951 in the shipping and import/export business. He served for a while as Chairman of the Colombo Chamber of Commerce. David was forced to retire early through ill health and died 3 Jan 1969 in St. Andrews.

He married Marjorie Brown. Marjorie died in 1982 and was buried with her husband.
