Rev Dr Alan Cant BD BSc. (1871 - 1964)

In February 1941 Dr Cant intimated his decision to retire from his charge as Minister of Creich Parish Church, where he had laboured with acceptance to all since 1925.

Dr Cant received all his education in St Andrews.  He is an old Madras College boy of the days when Dr Armstrong, Dr Aucherlonie and Dr Shaeffer were the heads of the school departments, and when Principal Tulloch was still head at the University and Dr A K H Boyd one of the ministers of the old Parish Church.  On his retirement he took up residence in the old grey city. For 20 years he served in India as a chaplain, and in 1916 his old University honoured him with its D.D. degree.

His son was Ronald Gordon Cant.
